Pillar 5 · Chapter
Depth Over Reach
Why a small audience that trusts you beats a big one that scrolls past, and what to build instead of a following.
Do I really need a big following to grow my business?
No. Revenue tracks trust and fit, not audience size. For a business selling judgment, a small documented authority routinely out-earns a big following, and the audience-building path is usually the slowest one available.
How many followers do I actually need to make good money?
Run your own math instead of borrowing a creator's: revenue divided by price gives clients needed, and an advisory practice thrives on numbers so small that followers were never the constraint. The constraint is trust density among the right few hundred.
Should I grow my audience or deepen trust with the one I have?
Deepen first, almost always: an under-tended audience is leaking the growth you would be buying, and depth raises the value of every future arrival. Grow deliberately only once activation says the pool is genuinely tapped.
Why 100 Real Relationships Beat 10,000 Followers
Followers watch; relationships act. The hundred know your work, route their networks, verify your claims, and buy at stakes, while the ten thousand supply metrics that keep deflating. The comparison was never close, and the era keeps widening it.
